My father taught me briefly, but most of what little magical prowess I have left was from what I taught myself. I have also taken a few classes with Angel and Zohar, although this was some time ago. |
Past Magical Experience: | I was a participent in both Windorian Wars, helped to defend Cloud Rivan's kingdom of Ayndrill from the Forsaken, I fought Restim Relluf's forces when they attacked this Guild, and also helped fight in a brief time of conflict between Windor and Crescent Lake. |
Origins: | Deric was born in a city of elves so large that it actually dwarfed Windor at the peak of its population. The city, called Griffonsoil for its unique birthrate of Golden Griffons, knew no stress or pressure until the war came. Had it not been attacked, the Griffonsoil Republic would be in control of the entire continent on which it was built even today. |
History: | To make a very long story a very short story, Deric lived in the ideal Elvin city called Griffonsoil - It had a powerful army, millions of inhabitants, good mages, good food, and hardly any pollution or waste. Suffice to say that upon finding the descendants of elves who'd defied her, Tiamat whipped up a massive greenskin (Orcs and Goblins) army to besiege the city. The war was brief, as the two armies met on the battlefield mere days after the greenskins were spotted on the horizon. Despite desperate fighting and all their vaunted power, the armies of the elves could not stand up to the sheer bulk of the orcs. The fact that Tiamat herself joined the fight didn't help, either...The elves were defeated and cut down as they ran. Deric's father, wielding a mysterious and powerful sword named Dragonfire, tried to cut the head off the snake and fought Tiamat one on one. But even with the sword, Deric's father was no match for the Dragon Queen and the blade broke from a particularly hard slash to the head. Mortally wounded and with Deric's two brothers thought dead, Ulthuran handed down the sword to Deric and told him to take off running in any direction he could safely get to. Deric alone made it out of the flames, leaving an entire sub-race of elves behind in the ashes. After 171 years of wandering he found Windor, fought in a few wars and had to stand by and witness it, too, be razed to the ground. Wandering for the next few months he continued with his self-imposed Ranger training, until finally comming across Mundi Noctem. Now, with two sons, what he really wants is an airship ticket to Costa del Sol and about seven years off from his 'hero' job. |
Personality: | Deric has been becomming more outgoing again lately, although at times he slips into a deep, brooding depression in which he will only talk to Lika or his two sons, Tier'di or Ambris. This hints at a pain in his heart that he is not willing to talk about or remember; the almost simultaneous deaths of his two friends, Skan and Kitra. |
Katana |
Type: Weapon (Sword) |
A four-foot long katana that Deric carries in a back-strap sheath. In the hilt of the weapon one may find a strange, octagon shaped ruby that appears on both sides. The glow which eminates from its depths during battle shows how much magic Deric has left to use. |
Cloak |
Type: Armor (Cloak) |
A cloak that Deric wears that can deflect physical blows that seem physically impossible. It is unclear if the cloak can also deflect Magic, but seems to be as fireproof as its wearer. |
Aegis Armlet |
Type: Armor (Armlet) |
An armlet that absorbs Ice and Water magic. |
Tracker's Boots |
Type: Armor (Boots) |
Boots which give the wearer better night vision. |
