The History and Ethics of Summoning

History of Summoning

The History of Summoning starts far back when people were barely learning to use magic. A man began experimenting by mixing different types of Magic, and came up with Summoning. His first summon was very weak, he only succeeded in drawing a small elemental from the Summon Plane. From there though, he worked harder and his summoning got far better. He began to be able to summon Espers.

People doubted the art of Summoning, but for a good reason. Two or three of every ten Espers summoned had no want to return to the Summon Plane and stayed in the area they were summoned. Some became early Guardians, Gods or in a few rare cases; evil entities. Few turned evil, but there were several who found living a peaceful life to be dull and started wars among people, or went and attacked settlements.

In time, these rouge Espers were sent back to the Plane. From there the first summoners learned how to summon true Summon Creatures. These were very difficult at first, for the summoner had to go into deep trance and find a path to the summon plane from the ethereal world. After loosing several summoners to 'lost wanderings' they decided to tie the Summon to a physical object. This made it much easier to call the Summons to the material world.

Time progressed where people would continue finding new ways and new Espers and Summons. After several ages, a few summoners learned how to create Summons from raw materials and the essance of existing Summons and Espers. Not all attempts were successful and some ended as monstrosities such as the famed Tupon. Some were merely entities, like Holy. Created summons were a very early form of Guardian Forces.

Guardian Forces came along when a very advanced Summoner came up with the idea of putting a defeated creature under control, and ended up linking the creatures spirit to the Summon Plane. After the first few successful tries, the art caught on and now Gurdian Forces are quite commonplace.

Ethics of Summoning

The ethics of summoning are disputed very often, but these are the ethics that apply to both the School and the Guild of Magic Users.
